URBANA – Russell E. Markin, 82 of Urbana, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2025. Russell was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and man of unwavering faith. Russell lived a life of service, love, and endless adventure. Born on Feb. 11, 1943 to the late George W. and Laura Evelyn (Watkins) Markin, Russell grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and the great outdoors. On Sept. 28, 1963, he married the love of his life, Margaret (Peggy) J. (Bahan) Markin, and together they shared 62 beautiful years of marriage. Russell was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. As the company armorer, he received a special award as a sharpshooter. His dedication to his country was a testament to his character – loyal, disciplined, and always willing to serve.
